Total Solar Eclipse
An early drive out to a stretch of open desert, away from anywhere else. Then, as morning turns to afternoon, the sun disappears completely — over five minutes of totality, with nothing around you but sand and silence. -

About Siwa
One of Egypt's most remote inhabited places, Siwa sits closer to the Libyan border than to the Nile — a fertile pocket of palm groves and salt lakes surrounded by hundreds of miles of open desert. Its isolation kept it culturally distinct for most of its history, with its own language and traditions still alive today. Few travelers ever make it this far west.
