Beyond the Nile Valley — a private 10-day journey from Cairo to the oracle temple of Siwa and the Mediterranean city Alexander built. Egypt for the curious, not the tourists.

Following Alexander into the Dark

A desert oasis of salt lakes and silence, hundreds of miles from anywhere — and for six minutes on August 2, 2027, its sky goes completely dark. Alexander the Great crossed this same desert looking for answers, 2,300 years ago. We're following the same route, all the way to the dark.

7 Days · Jul 29 – Aug 4, 2027 · 12–16 Travelers

Cairo, Alexandria, and Siwa Oasis

Starting from $5,800 per person

Your 7 Days

Seven days of wild desert and ancient history, and a sky that goes completely dark.

Cairo to Alexandria, then west along the Mediterranean coast and south into open desert — following the same route Alexander the Great took to Siwa, 2,300 years ago. Salt lakes, ancient ruins, and a sky that goes completely dark for over five minutes, far from anywhere else.

Want to see the Pyramids too?

About Siwa

One of Egypt's most remote inhabited places, Siwa sits closer to the Libyan border than to the Nile — a fertile pocket of palm groves and salt lakes surrounded by hundreds of miles of open desert. Its isolation kept it culturally distinct for most of its history, with its own language and traditions still alive today. Few travelers ever make it this far west.
